Smoking Orangutan Sent To Island Rehab
Tori, an orangutan at a zoo in Java, is trying to kick the habit. The 13-year-old primate became addicted to smoking after picking up butts thrown by zoo-goers, so her keepers are moving her to a private facility to help her quit.
Tori, along with her mate Didik, were moved to a private facility in Indonesia to live out the rest of her days.
"Tori can climb five big trees on the island. This might be the best orangutan enclosure in Indonesia," the zoo director said, according to CNN.

Tori picked up the habit after mimicking people, who would throw their cigarettes. However, while Tori would smoke, her mate would stamp on the butts to put them out.
"A common problem for zoos in Indonesia are naughty visitors," the director said, according to BBC News. "Although there are sign prohibiting them from giving food or cigarettes to the animals, they keep on doing it. It is not rare that visitors even hurt the animals."
Tori is one of four endangered orangutans at the zoo.
