A Hurricane Sandy trash tower is drawing complaints from residents in Long Branch, N.J. The Hurricane Sandy trash tower, three-stories high, is sitting on an empty lot next to the upscale Pier Village shopping and apartment complex, and its residents are unhappy with the mountainous Hurricane Sandy trash tower.

"You pay to live in a nice community, and this should not be your view," Liz Angrisani, who has lived in Pier Village for two years, told NBC New York.

Not only does garbage brings rats and other vermin, the Hurricane Sandy trash tower is also hurting the Long Branch economy, according to Mary McDonnell, who owns a gift shop in the area, and said the Hurricane Sandy trash tower makes motorists think the shops are closed.

But Mayor Adam Scheider said the city had no other option than to store the Hurricane Sandy trash tower in the vacant lot, according to NBC News.

"We just weren't going to get the streets cleared," he said. He added that using dump trucks to clear the Hurricane Sandy trash tower would take hours.

The mayor did say that the City Council will meet on Friday to decide on a course of action to remove the Hurricane Sandy trash tower. However, for some, the Hurricane Sandy trash tower is a reminder of how far the town has come.

"It keeps you motivated to help the community and rebuild," Angrisani said.
