Hitler's Food Taster: Was The Führer Obsessed With His Strict Vegetarian Diet? [REPORT]
Adolf Hitler's former food taste has confirmed that the Führer was in fact a strict vegetarian.
Margot Woelk, who is now 95 years, had hesitated to talk about what she experienced during World War II because of the mental suffering it has caused her. For three years it was Woelk's job to sample Hitler's food for traces of poison.
After Woelk's husband went off to fight the war, she was taken by the SS to Hitler's Eastern Front headquarters in modern-day Poland, known as the "Wolf's Lair"

There she would taste food between 11 and 12 o'clock before the "safe food" was taken to the headquarters by the SS.
Woelk told an exclusive interview with Times, "They told me, we have to taste the food that Hitler is served. Of course I was afraid. If it had been poisoned I would not be here today. We were forced to eat it, we had no choice."
She explained that Hitler's diet consisted of mostly vegetarian food.
"[He ate] the most delicious fresh things, from asparagus to peppers and peas, served with rice, and salads. It was all arranged on one plate, just as it was served to him," Woelk said.
The Huffington Post reported that Woelk worked alongside with a dozen other women who also aided in tasting food for poison.
Despite the fear of potentially being killed Woelk said that the vegetables and fruit were delicious but she was never given meat, fish or drinks to try.
Is it strange to think Hitler was a vegetarian? Allegedly the Fuhrer also was contemplating to convert all of Germany to vegetarianism after the war.
Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's winged man, wrote a diary entry in 1942 about Hitler's anti meat behavior suggesting that the German lead "believed meat-eating was harmful to humanity". Adolf Hitler ... the animal lover? Interesting.
Mrs. Woelk may be the only surviving member of Hitler's food tasting team.
According Telegraph, Woelk was smuggled out and brought back to Berlin by a sympathetic soldier. She was put on Goebbels train and in 1946 she reunited with her husband who later died in 1990.
