After an engine room fire left Carnival Triumph adrift for five arduous days, the tired passengers were in high spirits Thursday night when the cruise ship finally docked at Mobile, Ala., at 9:30 p.m.

Conditions on the ship quickly went downhill as the loss of power caused the vessel to lose heat, fresh water and working bathrooms. Passengers on board described disastrous conditions as sewage sloshed down corridors while passengers slept in tent communities on the deck.

Disembarking from the ship, eager passengers hopped onto buses headed for New Orleans, Galveston and Houston to finally return home and leave the nightmare cruise behind them.

However, the adventure was not over for one bus that was headed for New Orleans. Just as the bus was moments from its destination, it broke down at 2:30 a.m. to the outrage of many, the amusement of some and an overall shared feeling of disbelief among the passengers.

"The bus literally breaks down," told cruise ship and bus passenger Clark Jones. "It comes to a stop in the middle of the highway. We have to pull over to the side. It's dark. All the lights on the bus go out."

"My son Jacob and I, when we pulled over and realized the bus was broken, we just started laughing. People were giggling. Other people were not happy."

Given the series of unfortunate mechanical failures, it would almost seem as if the universe is targeting all its negative energy among the poor passengers. We hope all the passengers return to their families quickly and safely!
