Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss revealed that McReady shot the dog, who had previously belonged to her boyfriend David Wilson, according to the Cleburne County, Ark., Sheriff's Office. While authorities are still investigating the death as a suicide, Moss noted that this is still unconfirmed.

Billy McKnight, a former boyfriend of the country singer, revealed that McCready had recently threatened to kill herself if she lost custody of the sons she shares with him. He added that the singer was committed to a rehabilitation facility but was allowed to check out for unclear reasons despite her suicide threat.

In an interview with Fox News, McKnight called the decision to let his ex-girlfriend out of rehab a "big mistake," pointing to the recent death of her fiance. However, he wasn't ready to claim that it would explain why McCready shot the dog and then commited suicide.

Before McCready shot her dog and killed herself she had gone through an intense ordeal last month when her boyfriend David Wilson was found dead on January 14, 2013. The death was called a suicide at the time by the authorities, but some claimed she had killed him herself.

When Wilson was found dead on the porch of their home last month authorities, and people connected to the couple were confused, and claims that the death was a murder and not a suicide have only resurfaced following the news that McReady shot their dog before taking her own life.

Local authorities have revealed that they are still waiting for the official report on David Wilson's death.

"It could take weeks for the state crime lab to complete tests on Mr. Wilson's body. And if you'll notice, it was Mindy McCready's spokesperson -- not anyone involved in the investigation -- who made the determination that Mr. Wilson's death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told the Enquirer at the time.

In public, McCready denied killing her boyfriend, though these claims are now under question following her suicide and the shooting of her dog.

But while she was alive, Mindy McCready was asked about the death bluntly on Dateline, when she was asked, "For the record, did you kill David? Did you shoot David?"

"Oh my God, no. Oh my God, no. He was my life," replied McCready, "We were each other's life."

Following McCready's suicide we'll probably never know whether she killed David Wilson last month, but the fact that she shot the dog before taking her own life has some people questioning whether she told the truth about Wilson to begin with. Unfortunately, it seems we'l never know the answer.
