Naked bathers fled a fire in Leqing, China after a burst gas pipe created an intense blaze that left one person dead and six others injured. The fire spread so rapidly that the naked bathers fleeing the fire didn't have time to locate clothing or towels and were forced to try and cover themselves with anything they could find, including the T-shirts from sympathetic eyewitnesses. Officials believe the problem started in a neighboring apartment. Reports indicate that the blaze soon spread the rest of the block. The naked bathers had to flee the fire before firefighters arrived on scene.

"One minute I was soaking in the tub, the next I could smell smoke and hear screams," said one customer. "There was no time to get my clothes. I just ran for my life."

Once the naked bathers fled the fire, firefighters were able to focus on containing the blaze. According to authorities, the fire destroyed three houses before they were able to get it under control. As the naked bathers fleeing the fire illustrate, the inferno spread rapidly and with little warning. Fire officials said that, despite damaged egos, things could've been worse for many customers.

"We were lucky that more people didn't die," said one fire service spokesperson.

The Zhejiang province, where Leqing is located, saw another fatal fire last month similar to the one that caused naked bathers to flee a fire. The fire, which occurred in Wenling city, engulfed an area spread over 129 square metres, comprising three houses. Eight people were killed and 17 more injured in the blaze.
