Obamacare ‘Kills’: Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Says Affordable Care Act Will ‘Literally Kill’ People
Obamacare "kills" was the main message espoused by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., during a congressional session on Thursday. Bachmann, who has been in office since 2007, said that Obamacare kills women, children and senior citizens, and that it gives the government "100 percent control over health care."

For nearly ten minutes during Thursday's session, the Tea Partier and failed presidential candidate touted her accusations that under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, Americans will die because the law will cut people off from accessing good health care, according to Bachmann. She went on to say that government-sponsored Medicaid, a health care program for low-income Americans, is a "ghetto."
But getting back to her point that Obamacare kills, she said: "Let's repeal this failure [Obamacare] before it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens." Bachman continued to drag Obama's Affordable Care Act through the mud, claiming, in addition to her assertion that Obamacare "kills," that about seven million people "will be thrown off their very good health care now."
Bachmann has been a strong opponent of the Affordable Care Act since its inception in 2010. And now, on the three year anniversary of the House's passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act -- which it approved with 219 to 212 votes -- Bachman asked that Congress repeal the law, which went into effect in March of 2010.
While Obamacare "kills" was her main talking point, Bachmann also called the Affordable Care Act a "class-based health care system" and claimed the system will amount to three classes of coverage, with half the country falling into a pit of "ghetto" health care.
Bachmann tweeted to her 174,000 followers on March 20: "Obamacare = 20,000 pages of regulations. We must remove red tape that comes between you and your doctor - not add to it."
One Twitter user responded to Bachmann's rant on Thursday: "Can Someone Please Shut Her Up?"
Anderson Cooper responded to Bachman's House speech on his show Thursday night, countering her statement that Obamacare "kills" by saying: "You can say that about insurance companies right now, choosing who gets coverage or not."
The CNN correspondent also tweeted: "Michele #Bachmann now claims Obamacare will 'literally' kill women, children, and seniors ... we are checking her facts @ac360 8/10p".
Bachmann's claim that Obamacare "kills" people comes on the heels of an allegation she made during a speech to CPAC, the annual conservative conference, on Saturday, March 16, that government regulation, taxes and lawyers are keeping scientists from finding a cure for Alzheimer 's disease.
