Police have arrested Jonathan Broyhill, charging him with brutally stabbing Jamie Kirk Hahn and husband Nation Hahn in their Raleigh, North Carolina, home early Wednesday. Broyhill was the best man at the Hahn's wedding. Jamie Kirk Hahn, 29, died shortly after the attack. Nation Hahn, 27, was treated and released. Broyhill, 31, remains in the hospital for self-inflicted injuries, according to police spokesman Jim Sughrue. A tragic incident, Raleigh authorities have yet to confirm Jonathan Broyhill's motive for attacking the Hahns.

Jonathan Broyhill was Nation Hahn's best man during the couple's wedding in 2009. What's more, a photo shared on Facebook in February indicates that the three friends have remained very close over the years.

According to Daily Mail, Jamie Hahn was a political fundraiser and Nation Hahn is a Democratic political strategist. In fact, UPI reported that Jonathan Broyhill worked for Sky Blue Strategies, Jamie Hahn's political consulting firm.

Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller hired Sky Blue Strategies to help fundraise for his 2010 political campaign. Miller said Jonathan Broyhill was the primary person that oversaw Sky Blue's fundraising software.

"Some of the things that Jon said about the campaign finances were inconsistent with other information," Miller said in an interview with Raleigh News Observer on Wednesday. Referring to possible motive, Miller explained that, "It's probably the case that Jamie was asking questions on behalf of the campaign about campaign finances. I think it's bound to be part of the investigation of Jon's motive."

Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Miller was also quick to note that he is unaware of any legal inquiry regarding his election money.

Despite the suspicious fundraising activities, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue refused to confirm any planned investigation regarding Jonathan Broyhill's inconsistent handling of campaign money.
