A 14-year-old girl was forced to get pregnant by her mother, who made her inject donor sperm six times until she gave birth to a baby boy at 17, according to reports.

The woman, an American divorcee living in Britain with three adopted children, hatched her plan to get her 14-year-old adopted daughter pregnant after she was prevented from adopting a fourth, according to British High Court Judge Peter Jackson in a ruling publicly reported for the first time Monday. Details of the case were heard during proceedings at the family division of the High Court over the children's future last year. Jackson said that the mother, desperate for another child, had behaved in "a wicked and selfish way" that almost defied belief by forcing her 14-year-old daughter to use syringes to get pregnant.

The mother's plan to get her daughter pregnant involved coercing her into inseminating herself with syringes of sperm purchased over the Internet from a Denmark-based company, Cryos International. Jackson said that the daughter, identified only as A because of a court order barring identification of the family members in order to protect the children, "became pregnant at the mother's request, using donor sperm bought by the mother, with the purpose of providing a fourth child for the mother to bring up as her own."

As the Guardian noted, the mother had already adopted three children as babies from abroad, twice when she was married and once as a single parent after her divorce. The reason she had chosen not to give birth herself was initially because of a health condition. She subsequently underwent an elective sterilization.

Jackson quoted the 14-year-old forced to get pregnant as saying that she was shocked by the suggestion, but thought, "If I do this ... maybe she will love me more."

"My mum is a very determined person and she does her best not to let anything get in her way if she wants it."

Jackson also said the mother also made her daughter use douches of vinegar or lemon and lime juice in hopes of increasing her chances of having a girl.

Furthermore, it was "likely but not certain" that the 14-year-old forced to get pregnant soon became pregnant and suffered a miscarriage. But, after six more attempts injecting donor sperm, she did finally give birth to a baby boy in July 2011, when she was 17.

Midwives and nurses at the hospital where A gave birth became alarmed by the odd behavior of her mother. She wanted to breastfeed the baby, but her mother said: "We don't want any of that attachment thing."

The hospital then alerted authorities, and the children were subsequently taken into foster care.

The mother of the 14-year-old forced to get pregnant is now serving five years in jail for child cruelty.

This likely isn't the first or last pregnancy case of this magnitude. A 13-year-old girl, now 44, was forced to get pregnant in Pakistan and marry a man who hired four hitmen to kill her after a family friend, now her husband of 26 years, helped her move to Scotland to escape him, says the Daily Mail. Officers, who had been tipped off, arrested the men and sent them to prison.
