TMZ confirms that Lil Wayne, escorted by body guards, was taken to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The gossip site claims the 30-year-old suffered another seizure, much like the one that Lil Wayne, also known as Weezy F. Baby, endured earlier this year which almost killed him, according to TMZ.

Is this another Lil Wayne death hoax, or is the rapper's seizure another near-death experience?

In mid-March of this year, Lil Wayne suffered three simultaneous seizures which sent him to the hospital where he was reportedly in "critical condition." IDigital Times reported that the rapper was even given his final rites and that his family was there to say their goodbyes.

"Sources say the scene is violent as Wayne shakes uncontrollably," TMZ reported back in March.

Lil Wayne later told radio station Power 106 that he was an epileptic. "I'm prone to seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures," he said. "This time it got real bad, my heart rate went down to 30 percent ... I've never had three back to back like that."

Lil Wayne cited stress and overwork as reasons for his three seizures, although many people and celebrity blogs, including TMZ, speculated that Lil Wayne's seizures were caused by a binge of Sizzurp -- the purple drink made by mixing prescription-strength cough syrup with alcohol. Lil Wayne has often rapped about his affinity for the syrupy concoction.

Many people, especially over Twitter, began to lament the possible loss of one of our most successful contemporary rappers. From iDigital Times:

Although there's a strong history of rappers dying at a young age because of gang violence, this would be one of the first and certainly one of the more recent examples of a young rapper dying because of drug problems rather than gang violence. Lil Wayne's death would certainly have a gigantic impact on the hip-hop community, which recognized Lil Wayne as one of the greatest rappers of his generation.

The rumors that Lil Wayne was dying turned out to be flimsy at best, even though TMZ stuck by its reporting that the rapper's seizures were at one point life-threatening.

And what are fans of Weezy F. Baby's most recent seizure saying on Twitter?

"Lil wayne bouta die .. he had another Seizure. damn wont you learn," tweeted God Given Talent.

"Lil wayne will probably OD sometime soon," tweeted Kendal Parham.

"Lil Wayne should change his name to Seizy at this point...," tweeted Trey Winters.

"How many seizures is Lil Wayne gonna have? Doesn't this guy take his medication?" tweeted Mandela Sealy.

"Praying for Lil Wayne...," wrote Russell Simmons.

Epilepsy is a condition in which a person has a tendency to have regular seizures. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that epilepsy can be caused by oxygen deprivation, brain infections, head trauma, stroke, brain tumors or genetic disorders, but that in two-thirds of epilepsy cases, the cause is unidentifiable.

The condition is treated with antiepileptic drugs.
