A farmer circular saw image showing a Brazilian man with a wood cutter lodged in his stomach has us peeking through our fingers at the computer screen and wondering -- how did the man survive the horrific circular saw accident? Apparently, the man's heavyset stomach kept the farmer's circular saw from penetrating any vital organs.

According to Daily Mail, 56-year-old Gregory Steinmedc drove 30 miles to a hospital in Santa Rosa with the giant circular saw still lodged in his gut. The farmer, circular saw in hand, accidentally impaled himself on the powerful electric tool while cutting wood at his farm in Campina das Missoes, a city in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul about 745 miles southwest of Brazil.

After the terrible farmer circular saw accident occurred, Steinmedc called to his wife Frida, who had learned a bit of first aid during a driving course, to come help him, Daily Mail reports. According to The Sun, Frida was able to stop the bleeding and then rushed her husband to the hospital.

"There was some pre-hospital treatment which was very appropriate," Dr. Maurice Roman, the surgeon who operated on the farmer with the circular saw in his stomach, said. "If [Frida] had removed the saw during transport, it could have resulted in a hemorrhage of the abdominal wall and caused death."

The jagged blade pierced through 4 inches of his flesh before it stopped. In the image of the farmer and circular saw, Steinmedc's shirt can be seen wrapped around the saw's blade, and strips of the tattered tee still cling to his upper body and shoulder.

After the farmer and the circular saw both arrived at the hospital, Fox News reports that the saw was removed after a two-hour operation.

Luckily, the farmer's circular saw didn't puncture any vital organs and he's expected to recover from the terrifying ordeal.
