‘Landlords From Hell’ Kip And Nicole Macy Terrorize San Francisco Tenants, Cut Support Beams Under Floor, Get 4-Year Prison Sentence [VIDEO]
"Landlords from Hell" -- that's the nickname given to couple Kip and Nicole Macy, the California landlords who terrorized their tenants and then fled to Italy to escape prosecution. According to reports, over a two-year period from 2005 to 2007, the Macy couple harassed the residents of their apartment building in San Francisco, and even went so far as to cut holes in one renter's living room floor and threatened another with gun violence.

The district attorney announced Wednesday that the "Landlords from Hell" recently accepted four-year prison sentences in lieu of going to trial.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the nightmare couple purchased their building in San Francisco's gentrified South of Market neighborhood in 2005. In an effort to get the current renters to leave the building so that the Macys could renovate and sell off the individual units, the "Landlords from Hell" set in motion a campaign of threatening and harassing occupants to rid their newly-purchased apartment complex of its renters.
What tricks did the "Landlords from Hell" have up their sleeves? The Los Angeles Times reports that on several occasions, the couple cut off gas, power and water to the units; sawed a hole in one occupants living room floor; falsely reported to the police that trespassers were on the premise, resulting in one tenant and his friend being held at gunpoint by police; and soaked people's clothing and beds with ammonia.
"The actions of these defendants are so outlandish and brazen that it sounds like the plot line of a horror movie," San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon told CNN.
ABC News reported that the "Landlords from Hell" also changed the locks on tenants' doors and dumped people's stuff in the street.
What's most shocking is that the couple even cut the joists, the support beams, below one occupant's floor. A property manager for the building told ABC News that he was threatened by the Macy couple with a gun.
And you thought your landlord taking two days to fix a leaky faucet was bad.
The couple's attorney said that the Macys were "naïve" and didn't realize how stringent the San Francisco landlord-tenant laws were when they purchased the building.
The "Landlords from Hell" were first charged with felonies related to their horrific treatment of their tenants in 2008. After being indicted, charged and set for trial in 2010, the couple fled to Italy. They were then taken into custody in May 2012 in Milan, where they spent a year in jail pending extradition. They've since been returned to the U.S..
Nicole and Kip Macy plead guilty to two felony counts of residential burglary, one felony count of stalking and one felony count of attempted grand theft.
