World's Fastest Drummer: Tom Grosset Strikes Drum Over 1,200 Times In 60 Seconds [VIDEO]
The world's fastest drummer is Tom Grosset, a 22-year-old Canadian man who broke the world record earlier this week.
The Toronto man became the second person in measurable history to break 1,200 drum strokes in 60 seconds -- an average of 20 times per second. The previous record, set by Mike Mangini, the drummer for the band Dream Theater, was 1,203. Grosset became the world's fastest drummer when he banged the drum 1,208 times in 60 seconds.

Participants in the Extreme Sport Drumming event, which took place at Music City Center in Nashville, TN, had their drumming speed measured by an instrument called the Drumometer.
According to an interview with the website Movie Club, Grosset was able to hit the drum 1,194 times within a minute as early as age 16, which he says made him the third-fastest drummer in the world.
On his YouTube page, Grosset has posted numerous videos of himself drumming along to famous movie scores. Hans Zimmer, the famous film composer, even shared one of the Grosset's videos, an experience which he called "bloody surreal."
