Disturbing cow mutilations that occurred in a Missouri ranch have left rancher Lyn Mitchell at her wit's end. Mitchell first discovered one of her cows dead in her field in 2011. This year, two more incidents once again left Mitchell searching for explanations. In total, Mitchell lost three cows to bizarre mutilations.

On July 9, Lyn Mitchell was crushed to discover that one of her best cows was dead. First, Mitchell noticed that the cow's tongue was missing. Upon further inspection, she realized that the cow's udders, anus, reproductive organs, and ears had all been removed as well. The cow's heart was left to hang outside its body. Two weeks later, Mitchell found her second dead cow in a month suffering from genital mutilation and missing organs.

Desperate for answers, Lyn Mitchell asked a veterinarian to help her get to the bottom of the mysterious cow mutilations. However, the veterinarian's findings only brought stranger observations to light.

"I'm normally a very private person," Mitchell told local NBC affiliate KSHB. "But I'm willing to do this because it's just something I want some answers to."

According to the veterinarian, the cows did not suffer death from blunt trauma. In fact, the official cause of death is unknown. In fact, the veterinarian noted that no blood was found around the cow at all, despite the heavy cuts and missing organs. The veterinarian said that the cuts found on the mutilated cow demonstrated near-surgical precision. Finally, the mutilated cow lied on a patch of grass that was charred in an outline of the cow itself.

Rancher Lyn Mitchell has lost a total of three cows and is no closer to understanding what has happened to them.

"The more it happens, the more questions you get. And the more you learn, you find more and more things that make you ask more questions," Mitchell said.

"Something happened to these cows and it's not something that you see every day, it's not in your normal, so something else is going on," she said. Could Mitchell be suggesting the mutilated cows are the result of cruel aliens? Even the local sheriff's office lack the confidence to deny the unknown.

"We're having to look at this from two sides," said Henry County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Robert Hills. "Some people believe that there are aliens that are involved in this or the possibility of the occult going to the other end of the spectrum."
