The chances of winning the Powerball jackpot is a faint 1 in 175,223,510, but that is still a chance! 84-year-old Gloria C. Mackenzie won the Powerball jackpot in May. At $590 million, Mackenzie's winning jackpot is the largest in Powerball history.
Are you looking to become the next Powerball jackpot winner? Seven-time grand prize lottery winner Richard Lustig has written a book explaining how strategy and tactics can increase your chances to winning the grand prize winning. According to Lustig, "Luck has nothing to do with it." Here are three tips Lustig discussed in a book:
First, Lustig advises player to play smart, formulate a budgeting plan, and limit the number of tickets purchased to just whatever the player could afford. "You don't want to wake up Thursday morning and realize you're a loser and then pull your hair out trying to replace the money you spent."
Secondly, Lustig sheds light on the art of number picking. While Powerball claims that 70 to 80 percent of all winners simply used Quick Picks, Lustig insists that players should choose their own numbers for a greater chance in winning the Powerball jackpot.
"Every time you buy a quick pick, the set of numbers is unique, which always puts you at the worst odds, one in 175 million."
Instead, Lustig was written a chapter discussing numbers with a high hit rate. According to Lustig's book, the sum of the Powerball jackpot number series usually add up to fall between 104 to 176,
Thirdly and finally, a player should always practice smart budgeting. Lustig uses one third of his income on bills and savings, the next third on fun and entertainment, and the final third on purchasing lottory tickets.
"Don't play for greed. Play smart," says Richard Lustig.
