‘Clown Obama’ Missouri: State Fair Rodeo Stunt Sparks Controversy After Clown Dressed As President Is Chased By Bull [VIDEO]
A "clown Obama" at the Missouri State Fair rodeo has sparked outrage among critics who say the distasteful stunt went too far. Even Missouri's Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, a Republican, is calling the antic, in which spectators watched a rodeo clown wearing an Obama mask get chased around the ring by a bull, "disrespectful."

"The MoStateFair celebrates Missouri and our people," the governor tweeted Sunday. "I condemn the actions disrespectful to POTUS the other night. We are better than this."

"The performance was disrespectful and offensive," Scott Holste, spokesman for Missouri's Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon, said Sunday in an email to CBS News. "[It] does not reflect the values of Missourians or the State Fair."
Several Missouri politicians from both political parties have cried foul on the Missouri State Fair for the attack on the president.
According to USA Today, others are calling attention to the fact that for a fair that was state funded, the offensive stunt was overtly partisan.
During the clown Obama Missouri stunt, the announcer asked the crowd if they'd like to see the president "run down by a bull," to which the crowd responded with enthusiasm and cheer. A rodeo clown wearing an Obama mask entered the ring, and the announcer rallied the crowd.
Other clowns even prodded the "Obama" clown and played with his lips.
"Boy oh boy, I'm excited," the announcer said to the spectators, as heard in a video uploaded to YouTube of the clown Obama Missouri stunt. "We're going to smoke Obama. Obama, they're coming for you this time!" he said.
"He's gonna get'chya, get'chya, get'chya, get'chya!" the announcer continued. He even calls the clown Obama a "big goober."
The announcer at the clown Obama Missouri rodeo has been identified as Mark Ficken, the Superintendent of Schools in Boonville, Mo.
The clown Obama in Missouri gained attention on the Internet after one of the rodeo's spectators, Perry Beam, posted a photo of the rodeo clown in an Obama mask to his Facebook page. In the caption, Beam described how the crowd went wild over the fake president, shouting and cheering over the prospect of watching the clown Obama get chased by a bull.
Here's an excerpt from Beam's post, as seen on the blog Show Me Progress:
Last night, Lily and I took a student from Taiwan to the rodeo at the Missouri State Fair. Just prior to the start of the bull riding event, one of the clowns came out dressed in this. The announcer wanted to know if anyone would like to see Obama run down by a bull. The crowd went wild. He asked it again and again, louder each time, whipping the audience into a lather. One of the clowns ran up and started bobbling the lips on the mask and the people went crazy. Finally, a bull came close enough to him that he had to move, so he jumped up and ran away to the delight of the onlookers hooting and hollering from the stands.
The State Fair responded to the clown Obama Missouri. Here's what fair officials said on the fair's Facebook page:
The performance by one of the rodeo clowns at Saturday's event was inappropriate and disrespectful, and does not reflect the opinions or standards of the Missouri State Fair. We strive to be a family friendly event and regret that Saturday's rodeo badly missed that mark.
